Declaration of American Energy Independence

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the fossil fuel bands which have connected them with hereditary Arab kingdoms in the Middle East a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold this truth to be self evident, that Arab oil is obsolete in America's future.
We must make a determined effort to free Uncle Sam from his daily addiction to the 2.5 million barrels imported daily from Middle Eastern nations.

In his Farewell Address, George Washington spoke of the inherent danger to our democracy's future if America became involved in foreign entanglements with monarchies. Yet 200 years later, America is deeply entangled in a foreign alliance with Middle Eastern monarchies and despots antithetical to the ideals, values and interests of America. Washington must be spinning in his grave.

The future of the Middle East points to the continued rise of the Islamic fundamentalism which without a moment's notice can lead to the violent overthrow of any of America's Gulf Monarchy allies, leaving our well being in the hands of the enemies of freedom.

Does this make any sense?

We believe not.

Furthermore, we cannot continue in the illusion that the cost of oil is merely the dollar amount set by OPEC, a classic cartel. Add in the costs protecting that oil supply: military detachments, independent contractors reaping extraordinary profits, political shenanigans and most importantly, lives lost, and the real cost soars and the illusion of a fictional free market is dispelled.

The reason Uncle Sam has been unable to cure his addiction to imported crude oil is due to the special-interest-group power of multi-national oil companies and their cross-ownership of major coal, natural gas, nuclear and solar companies. This has led to a Russian Roulette approach to National Security and an economic prosperity built on a foundation of National Insecurity.

If the horse and buggy industry in the early 20th Century had had the power of today's international oil industry, the internal combustion engine for automobiles would still be a secret.

In the interest of their global profits, multi-national oil and its political allies are willfully sacrificing America's National Interest.

We, therefore solemnly publish and declare, that American Energy Independence is the foundation of our future, and that we will work ceaselessly to secure for our citizens a future that is secure and free of dependence on Middle Eastern Oil.
